Cookies and device storage

The short version: OmniStudy does not add advertising cookies or a custom analytics loader. The published public website may include optional Replit-hosted Umami analytics when analytics is enabled in Publishing settings. We use your device’s storage for the app to work.

What we store on your device

OmniStudy is designed local-first: your study data lives on your own device rather than on our servers. To do that, the web app uses standard browser storage:

Local data (IndexedDB and local storage): your profile, subjects, progress, cached study materials and preferences (such as language and dark mode). This is the app’s working memory. It stays on your device until you clear it, for example with Factory Reset in Settings.
Sign-in session (Firebase Authentication): if you create an optional cloud account, Firebase stores a session token on your device so you stay signed in between visits. Signing out removes it.
Offline cache (service worker): the app caches its own code so it loads fast and works with a patchy connection.

All of this device storage is used by the app itself. It is separate from optional analytics that Replit may inject into a published public website, and none of it tracks you across other websites.

Optional public website analytics

When the site owner enables analytics and publishes the website, Replit’s deployment platform may inject its Umami tracker into the public website. It automatically measures pageviews and may receive the small set of coarse, non-identifying public interaction events described in our privacy policy. OmniStudy does not install the tracker, control its platform-level operation with a custom loader, or add custom event instrumentation to the authenticated app, native apps or revision-guide pages. Replit controls any platform-level pageview handling for published HTML. No analytics tracker is expected on local development pages.

Payments

If you subscribe on the web, the checkout is processed by Stripe. Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout pages for security and fraud prevention; those are governed by Stripe’s own policies. We never see or store your card details.

What we do not use

No advertising or ad-tracking cookies.
No OmniStudy-installed third-party analytics SDK, script or analytics cookie.
No cross-site tracking, and no selling of personal information.

Managing storage

You can clear OmniStudy’s data at any time: use Factory Reset in the app’s Settings, or clear site data for omnistudy.co.uk in your browser. Note that clearing local data removes your study progress on that device unless you have a cloud account backup.
